Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. When she was just five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing dance, acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents via her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The film is 2001's top earning film, smashing records at the opening and first weekend. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film and the performance of the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's performance "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in a Feature Film. The actress was awarded five times for her part in the film.
